Winners were announced from “Inspiration”–RAC’s first show of the year open to all artists, in any media, in any theme. The juror, Kenise Barnes, from Larchmont, NY, a curator with over 20 years experience selected the following artists: Best in Show: Yuko Ike, Oil, “Pink Steps,” Oil: 1st place: Dawn Dahl, “Forsythia,” 2nd: Katharine Draper, “Illuminated Field,” 3rd: Alan Sprules, “Greenhouse,” Acrylic: 1st place: Heide Follin, “Fleeting Moments,” 2nd: Melissa Orme, “Fantastia,” 3rd: Raffael Altmann, “Addis Ababa,” Print/drawing: 1st: Betty Ball, “Watch Hill Summer No. 7,” 2nd: Dan Long, “No Memory of Memories,” 3rd: Angela McNamee, “Persimmons,” Mixed Media: 1st place: Amy Schott, “Worldly Birds,” 2nd: Amy Schott, William’s Bouquet, 3rd: Kathy Draper, “Lineation,” Photography: 1st place: Laure Dunne, “Ecola Beach Fog,” 2nd: Dana Laird, “10th at 18th,” 3rd: Pierre Lahaussois, “Parisian Bubbles,” Honorable Mention: Mary Harold, “Railway Cars,” Watercolor: 1st place: Barbara Seith, “Swimming,” 2nd: Susan Spivack, “Still Life,” 3rd: Alan Sprules, “Greenhouse.”
The show, chaired by Laure Dunne and co-chaired by Pat Atkin, also had an award of $250 for Best In Show. The exhibit will be open to the public until March 27.
The Rowayton Arts Center, on the scenic Five Mile River, is located at 145 Rowayton Avenue, Rowayton, CT. RAC’s gallery hours are 12-5 pm, Tuesday through Saturday. Admission is free.
RAC has been a cultural hub for almost 60 years. The RAC Art School offers year-round classes and workshops for creative people of all ages and at all levels. RAC, a not-for-profit organization, underwrites art education programs throughout Norwalk.
