A new exhibition, aptly called “Expressions,” opens Oct. 4, at the Rowayton Arts Center.  A show overflowing with intensity and bold energy, the exhibit features the work of both regional RAC members and non-members alike. Artists were free to express themselves, without restrictions of theme or medium. Expect surprises. One surprise is the guest appearance of Mayor Harry Rilling.  The mayor will pick his personal favorite and award the “Mayor’s Choice Award.”  This will be a first for RAC and a first for Norwalk.  Another prize for “Best in Show” is the $250 Mavis Fenner Memorial Award. The juror for the show is Rosemary Webber, a painter and former illustrator for The New Yorker and the Wall Street Journal.

The public is invited to attend the opening reception free of charge, on Sunday, October 4 (4-6pm) 145 Rowayton Ave. The exhibit is chaired by Lisa Wilson Grant of Norwalk and co-chaired by Dana Laird, also of Norwalk.

The Arts Center, located on the bank of the scenic Five Mile River, is a cultural hub where local and regional artists of all ages and levels of expertise gather for education, exhibition and inspiration. Through its classes, gallery, outreach programs and events, the Arts Center endeavors to promote creativity in the arts and to expand its involvement within the community.
