We bid adieu to…
Board Member Yuko Ike
“I’ve been a Board member since 2015.
(And I’ve been an exhibiting member long before that!) RAC is a wonderful and friendly artists’ community. I love how everyone is so supportive of each other’s work.
I’d like to thank you all for letting me serve on the Board. What a learning experience!

Board Member Nancy Romberg
“I have always known that RAC is a wonderful community resource. Participating on the Board for the last 2 years was an experience that only deepened my sentiments. I met energetic, dedicated and talented people who helped me appreciate the Rowayton Arts Center and all it provides even more. I am a fan!”
Marketing Director
Jeanne Taylor Hard
“In my three years at RAC, I’ve been proud to see RAC and RAC artists front and center in newspapers, magazines and television. It was also satisfying to see art submissions, art sales, event and exhibition attendance break records.
The arts center is in a good place and it’s good time for me to turn my energies elsewhere. In addition, I will start serving on the Alumni Committee of Sesame Street, my former employer.
Thank you to friends, colleagues and to the Board for their support these past years.” JeanneHard@gmail.com.

Behind the Scenes
Can’t Let the World Forget About Me by Eden Neleman
Inquiring minds were wondering about this piece from the Focus Under Forty Exhibition by Eden Peleman ( New Canaan ). Turns out the artist is a newly graduated senior headed to NYU in the fall. Wondering if this is the work of a big Mickey Mouse fan? Eden explains,
“As a child, I did grow up with Mickey Mouse. However, the painting reflects how society chooses to remake and rebirth old yet classic images and characters.
I only went to Disneyland once as a small child. Yet today, at 18, I notice all ages continue to wear the ears and wait in the long lines. So as much as I connect Mickey Mouse to my childhood, many people continue to cherish the 1928 character due to either a refusal to let go of the past, or, in my belief, due to society constantly recharging and rebranding the classic mouse.”
Dave Dillinger, a photographer also in the Focus Under Forty show, purchased the painting and said “I really loved this piece and who doesn’t hope the world doesn’t forget them!”
The Jewel by Paul Scully
Inquiring minds were also wondering about this photograph by Paul Scully (Norwalk ) from the Marine & Coastal Exhibition . What jewel is this? We asked Paul to explain.
“While out exploring in the Farm Creek Nature Preserve, I saw this amazing golden pod and was inspired.
I was knocked over with its beauty. There is this strong contrast of all the browns and greys of autumn with the golden interior of the plant. I later learned that this is the Milkweed plant. They say, ‘All the creatures in the woods are hunting something,’ this was my catch for the day.”
