A new show at the Rowayton Arts Center (RAC), “BIG & small,” is on view through July 24, 2022. This all media exhibition features artwork by RAC Exhibiting Members that are BIG (between 40” and 60”) or as small as 12” and under. RAC gallery hours are Tuesday through Friday from 12 pm to 5 pm plus Saturday and Sunday from 10 am to 1 pm.
The Chair for the show is Meg Tweedy and the Co-Chair is Laura Thoren. Winners were announced by the judge, Eric Jiaju Lee, visual artist, educator and Associate Director of the Sorokin Gallery in Greenwich: Best in Show: Lisa Thoren of Darien for “Above and Beyond” (Painting), 1st Place: Jean Bowler of Fairfield for “Waves Kiss the Shore” (Painting), 2nd Place: Joyce Andersen of Wilton for “Simple Grandeur” (Photography), 3rd Place: Christina Tugeau of Fairfield for “Under the Apple Tree” (Painting), Honorable Mention: Lynne Arovas of Greenwich for “Energy in Order” (Mixed Media), Michael Brennecke of Westport for “Sis Boom Bah” (Painting), Kyle Hicks Healy of Stamford for “Blue Skies” (Painting), Peter Kinseley of Norwalk “Big and Small” (Painting), and Jay Wilson of Cos Cob for “Burn out Bright” (Photography).
RAC celebrates the study, creation and appreciation of the arts through classes, exhibitions and events open to all in the community. For over 60 years, RAC has been a cultural gem in the Norwalk community. The gallery and art school overlook the scenic Five Mile River in Rowayton, CT at 145 Rowayton Avenue with space for regional artists to exhibit their art and a studio for workshops and classes at all levels offered to children and adults.
