THIS CLASS HAS BEEN CANCELLED.  CHECK IN NEXT SEASON TO SEE IF IT WILL BE OFFERED AGAIN.

Clay + fantastic art = CLAYtastic! CLAYtastic focuses on handbuilding with kiln-fired clay, while pairing it with another art form such as drawing, painting, wirework, or collaging & creating mixed media with upcycled pieces. Lessons will include art or STEM concepts, e.g., sculpting film creatures or character masks paired with painted movie scenery, learning how to weave clay coils into roller coaster sculptures against a theme park background, or creating futuristic flying car models with wired frames. Be inspired by and learn about the methods and creations of artists, engineers, architects, technology wizzes, film character and set designers. Students will mix it up with clay, glazes, bending sculptural wires, glass marbles, beads, buttons, metallic/neon paints, canvases, wood, mesh, upcyclables… Everything students create will be their design, their choice of materials, and their unique creation. Just imagine!

Supplies:  All supplies and firing fees are provided by RAC and are included in the price.  Students should bring a smock or wear clothes that can get messy.

Our instructor, Michelle Beyman, known as “Mrs. B, Mrs. Clay & ClayLady”, teaches all ages about clay, painting/drawing & mixed media. She is a ceramicist and mixed-media artist who loves to visit museums, sculpture parks, exhibits and other artists’ studios throughout the world to inspire her students.

A note about Covid compliance:  You can be assured that RAC is doing everything possible to keep its customers and staff safe from the Corona Virus.  Our studio is spacious and airy with excellent air circulation and plenty of room for people to stay safely distanced from one another.
