Opening Reception

RAC Masters exhibition on view now until October 5!!! This exhibition is a member-only small group show where each participating artist presents a body of work. Thank you to writing specialist, curator and art critic Sarah Schmerler for serving as the RAC Masters show judge (see photo below). The November/December Session is Open for Registration

The Rowayton Arts Center (RAC) is seeking original, handcrafted works for our annual Holiday Gift Show. We are accepting small ornaments and holiday-related gifts as well as jewelry, pottery and ceramics, candles, wooden toys and other objects, knitted/crocheted items, fiber art, plus original cards and small prints/paintings.

ALL vendors (members and non-members) must submit a Vendor Information form and HGS 2024 Inventory form.

If you have not participated in our Holiday Gift Show before, you must email sample images with a description to executivedir@rowaytonarts.org.

Receiving dates:

Friday, November 15 (10am-1pm) and Saturday, November 16 (10am-1pm)

Entry Fee: 

For RAC Exhibiting Members: Entry fee is waived, membership dues must be current and a commission fee of 40% will be taken on your gross sales.

For RAC Non-Members: Entry fee of $30 and a commission fee of 40% will be taken on your gross sales.

Volunteer Hours: Participants are encouraged to volunteer for a two hour shift during the course of the gift show.

Member Spotlight

The RAC 5 – Judy Katz

Judy has been a RAC Exhibiting Member for 20 years and a RAC Board Member for ten years. She went to the Music and Art High School in New York City and graduated with the award in Advertising. Judy went on to Syracuse University School of Fine Arts with an Art Scholarship. In her career as a graphic designer, Judy worked as an Art Director and Advertising manager for women’s specialty stores creating their visual personalities. She then had her own business designing logos, shopping bags, windows and interiors. She has also written and illustrated four books. Judy has lived in Westport for 25 years.

What medium do you work in and why?

Water and clay, because they are fluid.

Who are a few of your favorite artists?

Georgia O’Keefe, Paul Klee, Henri Matisse, Katsushika Hokusai and Vincent Van Gogh

Describe your artwork in 5 words.

Instant, simple, fluid, accidents, white-space

What is your favorite tool you use to create?

My Twig!

What is the most challenging part of your creative process?

When an accident happens, I have to make it work and know when to stop.
