Class Description:

We will learn the foundations of how to draw.  Through observation, we will focus on line, shadow, shape, color and dimension.  We will further explore highlights, shadows and light source. We will use various materials including pencil, watercolors and markers.  All levels welcome!!  Each student will be given the opportunity to develop their own creative palette and process.

This is online class that will be taught using Zoom. Be sure to download and acquaint yourself with the application prior to the start of class.

Suggested Supplies:

  • Fabriano Watercolor Pad – 9×12, cold press,140 lb, 50 sheets
  • Posca Acrylic Paint Markers. Black- PC 1m, 5 colors of your choice-PC 3m
  • No.2 yellow office pencils
  • Lukas Opaque Watercolors~ 24 colors, Item # 200018426 from Jerry’s Artarama
  • 1 Round # 7 Beste watercolor brush
  • Aquarelle mungyo oil pastels – set of 24 (Jerry’s Artarama)

About the Instructor:

Karen Siegel is a visual artist and educator. She teaches at Silvermine Arts Center, Brookfield Craft Center,Wainwright House,the Weston Library and throughout Connecticut.

Karen has exhibited her work at the Carriage Arts Barn, Silvermine Art Gallery and the Wooster Gallery. She teaches watercolor,acrylic,oil sticks, and all media. She also facilitates art workshops. Karen has lived in France,Spain and Germany and presently lives in Westport ,Ct  with her family and her two cockapoos Zoe and Rosie.
