Instructor: Susanne Brandt

Fee: $95 (incl all supplies)

In this hands-on workshop, you will explore the art of creating jewelry using photographs and precious metal clay. Metal clay is an amazing material which allows beginners to create metal jewelry pieces. The clay can be shaped like any soft clay and then it transforms after firing into solid, pure metal. You will learn  techniques to shape, stamp, roll, texture, and mold it into beautiful, one-of-a-kind jewelry pieces.

You will dive into techniques using the bronze metal clay for creating one pair of beaded earrings and a bronze pendant necklace. In addition you will learn how to create a photo pendant necklace incorporating a cyanotype photograph (or a photograph of your choice). This course is open to all skill levels, making it perfect for both beginners and those with prior jewelry making experience.

Immerse yourself in a mindful, creative journey that explores the transformative qualities of jewelry making. All tools and materials will be provided, and you will leave with  detailed instructions and a materials list so you can continue at home.

No prior jewelry experience is necessary—just bring your curiosity and a desire to create!

Supply List:  All supplies for this workshop will be provided by RAC.

About the Instructor:

Susanne Brandt is an artist who is known for her fine art photography. She holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts from Alfred University as well as a masters degree in Art Education. Susanne is currently the head art teacher at Wilton High School where she has taught photography for many years. She also teaches various workshops focusing on unique printing and photographic  techniques.  Helping others explore new areas of photography remains her primary joy.  Susanne has been exhibiting her work in group and solo exhibitions in CT & NYC for over 30 years. Her alternative photographic processes include printing onto fine art paper, fabric, metal, canvas and glass. Many of the photographs
are then enhanced utilizing paints and artisanal inks. Susanne works primarily with an infrared converted SLR camera. She enjoys the medium because infrared photography has a dream-like surreal quality making the images glow with a shimmering aura. Her work seeks to capture a compelling moment in time found in cityscapes, street scenes and nature. Her goal is to create “visual meditations” in her images.
