4:30 pm - 6:00 pm

Instructor: Sharon Schmiedel

Fee: $30

THIS CLASS HAS BEEN POSTPONED UNTIL THE FALL SESSION.  WE’LL OPEN REGISTRATION ONCE THE NEW DATE IS SET.

Watercolor is a great medium for on-the-go sketching. In this workshop we’ll combine watercolor and pencil to do small studies and then an approximately 7”x10” painting.  The goal is to experiment and play, not worry about making masterpieces.  A Zoom invite and reference images will be sent a day or two before the start of the workshop.

NOTE:  This class will be taught online using Zoom.  Students are expected to be well versed in the use of Zoom prior to the start of class.

Supplies:

  • Watercolor paint: use whatever you have, tubes or pans
  • 6B pencil, or one close to that in softness
  • Paper, a couple sheets or sketchbook, any will do but preferably 90lb weight or more with a little texture. Canson XL Mixed media pads are a good example.
  • A couple watercolor pencils, any brand. I like Derwent Inktense.
  • Medium size watercolor brush, I will mainly be using a #12 round.
  • Jar for water, paper towels, small spray bottle with water
  • Optional: General’s Sketch and Wash pencil, I will demo ways to use this.
