A native of Pittsford, NY, Karen has been influenced by art her whole life. Karen’s earliest memory is of her father teaching her how to draw.
Her parents were her greatest supporters and encouraged Karen to pursue a degree in fine art. Karen was awarded a partial scholarship to Pratt Institute through their National Talent Search. After attending her foundation year there, she transferred to Purchase College, SUNY, where she earned her B.F.A. in painting and drawing.
After working as an art restorer for several years, Karen, having come from a long line of educators, decided to follow in their footsteps and entered into graduate school where she attained a M. A. degree in Art Education. Karen worked several years as a high school art teacher in Flushing, NY but after having to stay home after having her two children, it seemed the perfect opportunity to focus on her personal work.
Since that time, Karen has been consistently working on her art in her home studio. She has exhibited her award-winning paintings in numerous art shows locally, including two solo exhibitions. Karen was also chosen as a featured artist for the Ampersand Art Supply Company, where her images are used for international advertising purposes. Karen feels fortunate to be in such a supportive artistic community.
