RAC Classes and Workshops

Spring 2 Classes

There are a wide variety of in studio, online and hybrid classes plus workshops for adults of all levels in all mediums offered during the Spring 2 Session in May/June. (Seen here is RAC Instructor Lisa Thoren leading a recent workshop “Print and Sip” in the studio.) Review the entire schedule at rowaytonarts.org/education.

 

Youth classes continue in the studio until the end of May: “Creations” for ages 6 to 9, “Creative Explorations for 7 to 10 year olds” and “ClayPlay@RAC.” Also, the Summer 3-D Workshop and July Ceramics Class registration is open for children ages 6-12 . For more info, visit rowaytonarts.org/youth-classes-and-workshops.

RAC will also arrange private art classes and parties for all ages in small groups. Schedule a private weekly art class, a Paint and Sip party or Open Sketch session by contacting RAC Education Director Suzy Aubrey at education@rowaytonarts.org or call 203-866-2744 (x-2).

Painting Creatively from Photographs

Sunday, May 15

11:00am-3:00pm

In this workshop with Souby Boski, students learn to paint in a creative, personal, and expressive way using reference photos as inspiration. Color, value and composition will be the focus.

Online Photography Classes for Adults and Teens

Starting next week, Thom Williams will offer two online classes open to all camera types: Smartphone Photography (beginning May 4 from 4-5:30pm) and Beginner 2 Photography (beginning May 4 from 6-7:30pm). Spring Juried Show Reception

Sunday, April 24

Winners were announced by the judge, Greg Shea, Senior Museum Preparator, Yale Center for British Art in New Haven, CT – Best in Show: Meg Tweedy of Darien, “Peace” (Painting), 2nd Place: Carina Imbrogno of Stamford, “Tango Dancing Tulips” (Pastel), 3rd Place:  Frank Maco of Norwalk, “Perched ” (Oil on Paper), and Honorable Mention: Michael Brennecke of Westport, “Patricks Cenote” (Oil on Panel), Jamie Rhind of New Canaan, “Miami Vice” (Photography), Alan Sprules of Norwalk, “Old Billingsgate Fish Market” (Painting).

RAC Artist Selection Drop off Day

Thursday, May 12

12 to 5pm

RAC’s artist selection committee will review artwork by local artists interested in becoming exhibiting members on May 12, 2022. Artists should bring work for consideration to the gallery on Thursday, May 12 from 12 to 5 pm. The selection process will take place on Friday, May 13 with notifications sent to accepted artists the following week. Artists should plan on picking up their artwork on Friday, May 13 from 12 to 5 pm or Saturday, May 14 from 10 am to 1 pm.

Chantey Sing

Lead, sing along and/or listen to chanteys, works songs, and other maritime songs. Bring your voices, instruments, friends and enthusiasm for sea music!

Berkshire Hathaway in Rowayton to Present Artwork by RAC members

A new exhibition, “RAC Spotlight: Dana Goodfellow,” will be on view at the Berkshire Hathaway Homeservices office beginning May 19 through September at 165 Rowayton Avenue in Rowayton, CT. Dana Goodfellow is a Rowayton Arts Center (RAC) Instructor and longtime Exhibiting Member as well as a former Board Member who lives in Darien, CT. Learn more about Dana at goodfellowart.com

 

There will be a “Meet the Artist” opening on Thursday, May 19 from 5 to 7 pm. After that, office hours are Monday through Friday 9 am to 5 pm, Saturday 10 am to 4 pm and Sunday from 10 am to 1 pm.
