Ekphrastic Poetry Experience
Monday, October 28
RAC’s “Autumn Juried Show” inspired this evening of art and writing as hosted by Norwalk’s Poet Laureate Bill Hayden (seen here chatting before the event to the right). He led the group through a meditation and then there was time to write drafts of poems before sharing. Seen below is Susan Thomsen reading her poem based on RAC Executive Director Andrea Letter’s photograph – not knowing Andrea was there two seats to her left! It was a special night in the gallery for all.
Rowayton Elementary School 5th Graders Visit
As part of RAC outreach, we recently welcomed 5th graders from the Rowayton Elementary School for a tour in the gallery to play I-Spy and sketch a favorite piece of artwork. They also learned about artist Jacob Lawrence and created their own visual narratives. At right, RAC Board President Steve Mernick pays a visit to the class.
