Upcoming Exhibition

Once again, RAC is seeking original, handcrafted works for the annual Holiday Gift Show. We are accepting small ornaments and holiday-related items as well as jewelry, pottery and ceramics, candles, wooden toys and items, small furniture, knitted/crocheted items, fiber art, original cards and small prints/paintings. Please click here for specific item guidelines.
Receiving:  Monday, November 15 (4-7pm) and Tuesday, November 16 (11am-2pm) and Wednesday, November 17 (11am-2pm)
BEFORE you arrive, please label the back of each item with your 3 initials and price. For wall art, please also include the medium and make sure the label hangs from the bottom of the frame. Also, be sure to fill out your Inventory Sheet before arriving at RAC – click here for the Inventory Sheet.
Opening day: Friday, November 26 from (12pm-5pm)
Extended opening weekend hours: Saturday, November 27 (10am-5pm) and Sunday, November 28 (10am-7pm) **Light Up Rowayton
Regular hours: Tuesday through Friday (12pm-5pm), Saturday (10am-5pm) and Sunday (12pm-5pm). Closed Mondays.

The 6″ x 6″ wood panels are back!
All artist members are invited to create original artwork for this annual fundraiser.
Come in and pick up a panel during gallery hours! Tuesday through Friday (12-5pm) and Saturday (10am to 1pm).
Make sure all paint is dry and any collages, mixed media or photos are permanently bonded. Please create directly on the square—no stapling of canvas or recycling of old canvases. No need for wiring or a holiday theme.

RAC Classes and Workshops
Fall 2 Classes Begin in November
RAC’s Fall 2 session begins this week with a wide variety of in studio, online and hybrid classes for adults of all levels. Review the entire schedule at rowaytonarts.org/classes.
Two in studio classes are continuing for young artists, “Creative Explorations for 7 to 10 year olds” and “ClayPlay@RAC,” while “Cartooning and Caricatures” will begin online November 4. For more info on any of these classes, visit rowaytonarts.org/youth-classes-and-workshops.
A reminder that RAC will also arrange private art classes and parties for all ages in small groups. Whether it be a private weekly art class, a Paint and Sip party or Open Sketch session, contact RAC Education Director Suzy Aubrey at education@rowaytonarts.org or call 203-866-2744 (x-2).
“Drawing by Deletion”
Saturday, November 20
10:30am-12:30pm
RAC Instructor Nancy McTague-Stock will show participants how to create beautiful drawings of portraits, still lifes, landscapes or contemporary genres by deleting rather than adding! This technique has been used for centuries, often called reduction drawing.
Open to artists of all levels.

Photography instructor Thom Williams is offering another session of online classes for both new and experienced photographers.
Starting this week, Thom will offer four classes: Intermediate Photography (beginning November 2 6-7:30pm), Beginner 2 Photography (beginning November 3 from 4-5:30pm), Photo Editing Solutions (beginning November 3 6-7:30pm) and Seeing and Shaping Light (beginning November 30 from 6-7:30pm).Open to all camera types. FREE art supplies and frames available in the RAC studio!
A large supply of brand new and gently used frames in a variety of sizes, as well as two standing display easels and two plein air paint boxes, have been donated to RAC by Christie Ranges, the widow of Thomas Ranges who was a long time Exhibiting Member. Everything is on display and ready for pick up in the RAC Studio – donations are encouraged to cover the cost of a memorial brick for Thomas Ranges at RAC.
