RAC Classes and Workshops
Fall 1 Classes Begin September 7
RAC’s Fall 1 session starts next week with a full slate of adult and children’s art classes online and in studio, plus a new hybrid model that allows both!
From “Painting For Beginners” and “Explorations in Watercolor” to “Working With Pastels” and “Life Drawing,” there is something for all adult students looking to get arty. (Painting by RAC Instructor Susan Fehlinger seen here.) Review the entire schedule at rowaytonarts.org/classes.
“Creative Explorations for 7 to 10 year olds” will meet in the RAC studio on Wednesday afternoons beginning October 20 and “ClayPlay@RAC” will meet there on Thursdays afternoons beginning October 7. Education Director Suzy Aubrey will also be teaching “Cartooning and Caricatures” online on Thursdays beginning November 4. “Landscape Simplified to Abstraction”
Saturday, September 11
10:30am-4pm
This workshop will focus on abstracting landscapes through exaggeration and simplification. RAC instructor Lenny Moskowitz will cover the basics of value and color and exploring ways of moving color forwards and backwards to create greater depth. Previous experience is not necessary.

“Perspective Drawing for Artists”

This workshop with RAC instructor Nancy McTague-Stock will help all artists deal with the forever struggles of getting perspective just right.

“Paint & Sip”
Thursday, September 30
6:30-8:30pm
Join RAC Instructor Dana Goodfellow as she leads participants through this abstracted landscape painting seen here. Students are welcome to follow along or paint something of their own.

“Atmospheric Landscapes”
Saturday, October 2 10am-4pm
and Sunday, October 3 11am-3pm
Back by popular demand, William McCarthy will share techniques on how to paint from the imagination and achieve an atmospheric style that captures the beauty and emotion of the landscape. Open to oil and acrylic painters.

Photography instructor Thom Williams (his photograph here) will begin another session of online photography classes targeted toward new and experienced photographers.
Starting next week, Thom Williams will offer three classes: Beginner 1 Photography (beginning September 7 from 6-7:30pm), Intermediate Photography (beginning September 8 from 6-7:30pm) and Intro to Lightroom (beginning September 7 from 4-5:30pm). Open to all camera types. RAC Happenings
RAC Invites Artists to Become Exhibiting Members – Drop off date September 23
RAC will review artwork by local artists interested in becoming exhibiting members on September 24. Artists should bring items for consideration to the gallery on Thursday, September 23 from 12 to 5 pm. The volunteer committee will meet on Friday, September 24 with notifications sent to accepted artists the following week. Artists should plan on picking up their artwork on Friday, September 24 from 12 to 5 pm or Saturday, September 25 from 10 am to 1 pm.

“Paint & Sip” August 2021
RAC hosted another “Matisse with Mari” with RAC Instructor Mari Gyorgyey on August 18. It was fun for all – a great excuse to get together in the studio and get your paint on!
