Education Update

The fall schedule begins September 6 with lots of new classes (for example “Oil Painting” with Felicia Feldman, “Finding Your way with a Paint Brush” with Souby Boski, and “Ultra Special Beginner Class” with Lenny Moskowitz) as well as all the old favorites. Review the entire schedule at rowaytonarts.org/classes. Seen here is a photo of mother daughter time at RAC with Mother Charlotte Sabbagh and daughter Chloe painting together in Dana Goodfellow’s class this summer. Dana will be teaching “Realism to Abstraction” Thursdays beginning in September. And thank you to the photographer – fellow classmate and RAC Exhibiting member, Ginny Rowan.

Reminder that RAC will arrange private art classes and parties for all ages in small groups. Schedule a private weekly art class, a Paint and Sip party or Open Sketch session by contacting RAC Education Director Suzy Aubrey at education@rowaytonarts.org or call 203-866-2744 (x-2).

Online Photography Classes for Adults and Teens

Thom Williams will offer two weekly classes in September: Beginner 1 Photography (beginning September 7 from 6-7:30pm) and a Photo Critique (beginning September 8 from 6-7:30pm) open to all camera types. Introduction to Abstract Art

Saturday, October 15 and Sunday, October 16

10:00am-2:30pm

This workshop focuses on using water-based/acrylic paint and materials in traditional and non-traditional ways. Instructor Rachel Volpone will emphasize how to build a visual vocabulary through explorations of line, shape, color and mark making.

Paint and Sip

Thursday, August 11

RAC’s Paint and Sip with Instructor Susan Fehlinger had everyone dealing with the challenges and happy surprises that come with painting with a palette knife. Susan will be teaching more about palette knife painting in “The Art of the Knife” beginning this September on Thursday afternoons (info at link here). Thanks to participant and photographer Ariel Ling (front row, right) for sharing her photos!!!

Artist Opportunity

at Brendan’s 101 in Rowayton

101 is scheduling solo art shows and looking for local artists! The back room can hold about 20 pieces and plan on adding a few more to have on reserve as pieces sell. Buyer pays the artist directly and things are settled up after the show (20% commission). 2022-2023 dates are below – email brendans101@gmail.com if interested!

RAC Artist Selection Drop Off Day September 22

RAC’s volunteer selection committee will review artwork by local artists interested in becoming exhibiting members September 23, 2022. Artists should bring items for consideration to the gallery on Thursday, September 22 from 12 to 5 pm. The artist selection will take place on Friday, September 23 with notifications sent to accepted artists the following week. Artists should plan on picking up their artwork on Friday, September 23 from 12 to 5 pm or Saturday, September 24 from 10 am to 1 pm.
