Class Description

This class is for artists who have mastered the fundamentals of working with values and the primary colors and are ready to move on to full color painting of landscapes.

Emphasis will be placed on the image selection process as well as the development of a solid value sketch to guide you in your painting.   You will learn how to capture depth through the use of various color choices, brush strokes and perspective.  Most of all, you’ll learn to hone your observational skills so that the painting process becomes easier and more self directed.

Classes will include lectures, demonstrations, as well as individual instruction.  Students are welcome to paint with oils or acrylics.  Appropriate for novice to intermediate skill levels.

Note: This class will be meeting in the studio. Class size will be limited to ten students.

Supply List

Please bring a recently completed painting to the first class if you have one.
Also, bring an 8 X 10 drawing pad, 2B carbon pencil, kneaded eraser,  chamois cloth and a sharpener.

About Joseph Fama:

Joseph Fama studied at the School of Visual Arts and the Reilly League of Artists. Cesare Borgia was his teacher. Joseph earned his bachelor’s degree from Iona College. He’s a member of the American Artist Professional League, Oil Painters of America and American Impressionist Society, Inc.  His work has been exhibited throughout the U.S. and has won numerous awards.
Also, Joseph served as an Art Director for several advertising agencies in New York City. He worked with clients and copywriters in developing concepts and visual images for ads and T.V. commercials, and now spends his time painting and teaching art in various locations throughout Fairfield County.

A note about Covid compliance:  You can be assured that RAC is doing everything possible to keep its customers and staff safe from the Corona Virus.  Our studio is spacious and airy with excellent air circulation and plenty of room for people to stay safely distanced from one another.   Every student will have a 5′-6′ foot table of their own on which to work and will have their own set of supplies.

As always, please do not come to the studio if you are feeling sick or have the following symptoms:  cough, fever, shortness of breath (other than the excitement of seeing us), sudden loss of smell or taste, chills, body aches, or sore throat.
