There has to be movement in a landscape painting for it to have life. In this class, special attention will be given to the importance of composition and use of  “Select Focus.”  Students will also learn how to set up a palette for landscape painting and will learn various techniques for achieving  the illusion of depth in theri work.
It is suggested that students work from their own photos for this class.  The value sketch and color study will be the guide for the painting.  Students will receive individual critiques and  class demonstrations.
This class is most appropriate for students with experience painting in oils or acrylics.

Supply List

Please bring a recently completed painting to the first class if you have one.
Also, bring an 8 X 10 drawing pad, 2B carbon pencil, kneaded eraser,  chamois cloth and a sharpener.

Paints (I recommend Liquitex brand for Acrylics and Winsor & Newton for Oils)

About Joseph Fama:

Joseph Fama studied at the School of Visual Arts and the Reilly League of Artists. Cesare Borgia was his teacher. Joseph earned his bachelor’s degree from Iona College. He’s a member of the American Artist Professional League, Oil Painters of America and American Impressionist Society, Inc.  His work has been exhibited throughout the U.S. and has won numerous awards.
Also, Joseph served as an Art Director for several advertising agencies in New York City. He worked with clients and copywriters in developing concepts and visual images for ads and T.V. commercials, and now spends his time painting and teaching art in various locations throughout Fairfield County.
