A new show at the Rowayton Arts Center (RAC), “Abstraction,” is now on view until March 18, 2023. This all media exhibition features artwork by RAC Exhibiting Members with a larger degree of independence from visual references.
Winners were announced by the judge, Hadley Powell, founder of Powell Fine Art Advisory in Boston, an art consulting and advisory service: Hu Lindsay Award for Best in Mixed Media: Almudena Fernandez Vicens of Riverside for “Untitled” (Dyptych), 1st Place: Kathy Draper of Norwalk for “Release” (Monotype), 2nd Place: Bob Sachs of Norwalk for “Magenta Spirit” (Archival Pigment Print), 3rd Place: Dana Laird of Rowayton for “Cedar Hill” (Photographic Collage) and Honorable Mention: Diane Carten Lynch of Stratford for “I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings” (Mixed Media), Merrilee Main of Milford for “Overboard,” Amy Schott of Wilton for “Pop Tops,” Marc Vandermeer of Riverside for“Finish Line” (Digital Painting).
Gallery hours are Tuesday through Friday from 12 to 5 pm and Saturday from 10 am to 1 pm.
RAC celebrates the study, creation and appreciation of the arts through classes, exhibitions and events open to all in the community. For over 60 years, this nonprofit organization has been a cultural gem in Rowayton, CT. The gallery and art school overlook the scenic Five Mile River at 145 Rowayton Avenue with space for regional artists to exhibit their art and a studio for workshops and classes at all levels offered to children and adults.
