A new show at the Rowayton Arts Center (RAC), “Photography and Sculpture,” is now on view through August 28, 2022. This exhibition features artwork by 65 area artists chosen from 200 online submissions.
Winners were announced by the judge Paula Tognarelli, the former Executive Director of the Griffin Museum of Photography in Winchester, MA: Best in Show: Bill Gore of Redding for “Song of the Saugatuck” (Photography), 1st Place: Julia Arstorp of Darien for “Sunday Best” (Photography), 2nd Place: Barbara O’Shea of New Canaan for “What’s Next?” (Photography), 3rd Place: Hilary Houston Bachelder of New York, NY, for “Sea Fields” (Photography), Honorable Mention (Photography): Monique Michaels of Peekskill, NY, “Exhale,” Tad Philipp of Rye, NY, “Here It Is” and Barbara Ringer of Ridgefield for “Regularly Scheduled Program,” 1st Place: Chuong Pham of Maplewood, NJ, for “Made of Clouds” (Sculpture), 2nd Place: Andrea Rubin of Westport for “Woman” (Sculpture).
The chair of the show is RAC Executive Director Andrea Letters. Gallery hours are Tuesday through Friday from 12 to 5 pm plus Saturday and Sunday from 10 am to 1 pm.
RAC celebrates the study, creation and appreciation of the arts through classes, exhibitions and events open to all in the community. For over 60 years, this nonprofit organization has been a cultural gem in Rowayton, CT. The gallery and art school overlook the scenic Five Mile River at 145 Rowayton Avenue with space for regional artists to exhibit their art and a classroom for workshops and classes at all levels offered to children and adults.
