Theme:
In our busy world, how often do we take the time to simply look up, or look down?
For Looking Up, Looking Down, we challenge you to create work that depicts just that: what you see when you look straight down or straight up at the world around you. Work should clearly depict what you have seen on the ground or over your head. No closeups of subject matter unless it is in the context of the ground or the sky. No horizon lines, please. Abstract work should have some clear reference to the theme.
As artists, we are conditioned to depict subjects that are within the sight line of most humans: a landscape or seascape, a portrait, a city scene, a garden.
But what if we focused our attention on what is ninety degrees above or below the horizon line? What if we looked at our every day in a different way, from a different perspective?
Entry Procedures and Guidelines
Artist’s Eligibility: Exhibiting Members only
Please be sure to review the exhibition requirements to make sure your work complies with the guidelines for acceptance at the Rowayton Arts Center. By submitting your work to the show, you agree to exhibition requirements and RAC Gallery Policies.
The exhibition chair may refuse any entry on the grounds of poor condition or oversized artwork.
How Many Works: Two works per artist
Fees: $25/1; $40/2; Fees waived for Art Angels

DEADLINE IS MIDNIGHT ON FRIDAY, June 9. After you hit the submit button, you will be directed to PayPal to pay the entry fee either by credit card or PayPal account.

Important Dates
Receiving Dates: Monday, June 12 (5–7pm) and Tuesday, June 13 (12-2pm)
ARTWORK MUST BE DELIVERED DURING RECEIVING TIMES – COMMITTEE WILL NOT ACCEPT PIECES DELIVERED AFTER 2 pm Tuesday, June 13, no exceptions!
Opening Reception: Sunday, June 18 (4-6pm)
Show Runs June 18 through July 8
Pick Up: Monday, July 10 (5-7pm) and Tuesday, July 11 (12-2pm)
Storage is extremely limited – please pick up on time. You will be charged a $10/day penalty for late pick up.
