A new show at the Rowayton Arts Center (RAC), “Photography & Sculpture,” is on view now through July 21, 2024. This exhibition features artwork by area artists selected from almost 250 online submissions. Gallery hours are Tuesday through Friday from 12 to 5 pm plus Saturday and Sunday from 10 am to 1 pm.
The winners were announced by Andrew Moore, an American photographer who is widely acclaimed for his long-term photographic series: Photography 1st Place: Laurie Peek, “For Gerry,” 2nd Place: Liza Epprecht, “Heaven,” 3rd Place: Marilynn Ulrich, “The Long Goodbye,” Honorable Mention: Andrea Letters, “Winter Hydrangea,” Tad Philipp, “Baracoda” and Anne Louise Tetenbaum, “Sublime I.” Sculpture 1st Place: Pamela Proctor, “Vessel #8 with Fungi,” 2nd Place: Rosalind Shaffer, “Friends,” 3rd Place: Derek Freres, “Honey in the Clouds” and Susan McHale, “Muddy Waters” (shared).
RAC celebrates the study, creation and appreciation of the arts through classes, exhibitions and events open to all in the community. For over 60 years, this nonprofit organization has been a cultural gem in Rowayton, CT. The gallery and art school overlook the scenic Five Mile River at 145 Rowayton Avenue with space for regional artists to exhibit their art and a classroom for workshops and classes at all levels offered to children and adults.
