Susanne Brandt is an artist and arts educator who lives and works between CT and coastal Maine, drawing inspiration from the natural beauty of the New England landscape. Susanne holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts from Alfred University as well as a double master’s degree in Art Education.

Her current body of work explores the deep connection between art and nature, focusing on abstract botanicals that reflect elements of mysticism. Susanne creates painterly, ethereal images that invite quiet, internal dialogue with the natural world. Her cyanotypes and phytograms often incorporate ocean water, seaweed and sand, reflecting her commitment to raising awareness about the urgent need to protect our marine life and oceans.  She also often enhances her photographs with paint, inks, gold leaf, and hand-drawn elements, transforming her images into mixed-media artworks.

Susanne’s career spans 24 years of teaching art at Wilton High School, where she served as the head art teacher for many years. She is passionate about sharing her knowledge and inspiring students of all ages to explore their creativity and connect more deeply with the environment through art. In her workshops, she incorporates elements of meditation and mindfulness, encouraging students to slow down and find relaxation through the creative process.

Susanne has been exhibiting her work in group and solo exhibitions in CT & New York City for over 30 years.
