Explore the Wonders and Spontaneity of Painting with water media and the numerous ways they can be used for optimum effect.  Judy will teach participants her techniques and the “secrets” she uses when painting with watercolors and gouache. This class is geared toward all levels of watercolor artists and others who are curious about the medium.  We will painting in the studio and will have a live model one week and will work outside when the time and weather permit.

Note: This class will be meeting in the studio. Class size will be limited to six students and we ask that all participants  be fully vaccinated.

Supply List:

  • Caran D’ache 15 color gouache set
  • Bamboo student brush size 16
  • Canson watercolor block 12×16/14/20 better
  • Strathmore cold press pad 11×15
  • Bound Canson black cover 8 1/2 x 11 sketchbook (not a spiral notebook)
  • 2 black felt tip Pentel sign pens
  • 1 bottle Higgins waterproof black ink

 About Judith Orseck Katz (aka Judy):

Judy is well known in the Region for her gouaches and ceramic sculpture.  Her distinct style is a blend of Eastern tradition and Western abstraction.  She has taught at Parsons School of Design, Silvermine School of Art, The Metropolitan Museum of Art, and in various schools around the country.
