10:00 am - 3:00 pm

Instructor: Dina Gardner

Fee: $250 (incl most supplies)

In this two-day workshop, Dina Gardner will cover many topics and teach beginner to intermediate techniques for creating beautiful landscapes using pastels.  Topics will include, but are not limited to, understanding value and value patterns, learning different underpainting techniques and understanding how these techniques can dramatically influence your painting, learning the importance of composition, color and color harmony, light vs. shadow, negative space, aerial perspective and much, much more.

Each day will begin with handouts and discussion followed by a demo using a reference photo supplied by the instructor.  The students and instructor will then work together, step by step, to each create a painting from the same photo reference. After questions and discussion, the students will then complete a painting on their own using techniques learned each day.  There will be plenty of one-on-one time with Dina. If time permits, students are welcome to use the information they learn each day to begin other paintings and are encouraged to bring their own photo references with them.

This is the perfect workshop for anyone interested in learning about pastels.  All supplies are included in the workshop fee, so no trips to the art store are necessary!

Supply List:

All supplies will be provided by Dina and RAC.  If you happen to have a set or sets of pastels, bring them along so Dina can guide you on their use.
