WORKSHOP DESCRIPTION
In this workshop, students will learn how to use a soft silicone plate (i.e. gelli plate), a brayer, paint and paper to create one of a kind monoprints. The process is fun and simple and offers an endless array of creative possibilities once it’s mastered.
As a special treat, Lisa Thoren and Pam Lindberg will be co-teaching this class. Their distinct printmaking and teaching styles compliment one another making for an extra rich experience. Students will be making prints and cards in this workshop and will be offered ideas on what to make next. We do warn you though…once you start, it’s hard to stop!
This workshop is geared toward people new to the gelli plate printmaking process as well as those familiar with the technique. Lisa and Pam will guide students step by step helping them to develop prints and compositions that suit the individual’s taste.
SUPPLIES: All the necessary supplies for gelli plate printmaking will be provided by RAC. However, you’re encouraged to bring some items from home that may add an interesting textural quality to your prints and collage. Examples include flowers, leaves, combs, corrugated cardboard pieces, yarn, bubble wrap, etc. You may also want to bring reference photos for use in designing your collage.
