The Joy of Painting Watercolor Landscapes to Livestream Music

As Wassily Kandinsky said,” Lend your ears to music, open your eyes to painting: music can be the ultimate teacher.” Come join us as we explore various watercolor techniques, color theory and composition. We will livestream the music of Broadway bassist Mary Ann Mcsweeney. All levels welcome!
This workshop will be lovely way to end your day. Karen, who has been teaching art for over 15 years , will guide you through the painting while world re-known musician, Mary Ann McSweeney, plays live music. Expect the combination of art and music to have a calming and magical effect on you.
Note: This is an online workshop taught through Zoom. Students should become familiar with the application prior to joining the class. An invitation will be sent to students a few days before the workshop begins.
Supplies:
- A basic set of watercolor paints. Tubes and pans of color are both adequate
- #6 round paintbrush
- Jar of water
- paper towels
- beverage of your choice
About the Instructors
Karen Siegel is a visual artist and educator. She teaches at Silvermine Arts Center, Brookfield Craft Center,Wainwright House,the Weston Library and throughout Connecticut. Karen has exhibited her work at the Carriage Arts Barn, Silvermine Art Gallery and the Wooster Gallery. She teaches watercolor,acrylic,oil sticks, and all media. She also facilitates art workshops. Karen has lived in France,Spain and Germany and presently lives in Westport ,Ct with her family and her two cockapoos Zoe and Rosie.
Mary Ann McSweeney is a full-time professional bassist in New York City. She was on the faculty for the Middle School Jazz Academy at Lincoln Center for
12 years, and performed at the White House with the Eli Yamin Quintet and the Kennedy Center Gala with the Clayton/Hamilton Orchestra. Mary Ann was musical director/arranger for three shows at NYC’s Birdland featuring Jane Monheit, in a program that included selections from Irving Berlin and the Cole Porter musical, “Anything Goes.” McSweeney has played more than 45 Broadway shows, including Tony award-winning “A Gentleman’s Guide to Love and Murder.” In 2017 she performed in Greece and Berlin with her Urban Fado Project. Her original music can be heard on the documentary “From Allegiance to Broadway,” currently playing in theaters around the country. She recently was seen at the Public Theater playing the onstage bass player for the “Girl From the North Country” that opened to rave reviews. In 2019 She performed the music of Charles Mingus, arranging and orchestrating for the new ensemble sponsored by the Bronx Arts Ensemble.
