10:00 am - 1:30 pm
Instructor: Susanne Brandt
Fee: $125 (incl all supplies)
Workshop Description:
This course will focus on using your smartphone to capture Infrared photographs. Participants will be introduced to the Magical World of “Unseen Light“ as Infrared wavelengths are not visible to the naked eye. Infrared photography has a surreal and dream-like quality, unlike traditional photography.
Instruction will be given on how to acquire and install an infrared filter on your smartphone. An iPhone 6 or greater or an Android phone will work for this technique, and the filter can be easily attached and removed from your smartphone.
During this class you will learn how an Infrared camera captures photographs of landscapes, architecture, still life, nature and the human form. Demonstrations will be given on how to capture photographs utilizing the filter as well as processing and editing the photographs.
In addition to learning about capturing infrared photographs, students will also be introduced to the art of “Hand Coloring” infrared photographs. Hand coloring not only adds depth to your photographs but also offers a meditative way to slow down and connect with your work.
Students will have the opportunity to take photos of stunning seascapes, floral still lifes, and the natural surroundings of the Rowayton Art Center grounds, as well as hand color one photograph. Come join us and enhance your artistic vision. No prior photography experience is necessary for this course, just a desire to learn about the “Magical world of Infrared Photography.”
Supply List: It is required that all students have a smartphone for this workshop. Both iPhones and Android phones can be used.
