Before you can get your art in front of the public, you have to get it in front of a selection committee, juror, or gallery owner to choose your work for display. By submitting your work to the preferred specifications, you position yourself as a professional artist; someone who is easy to work with and has attention to detail that will probably be reflected in their art. Then there’s your photographs themselves. How can you get something suitable for submission without doing a full blown photo shoot? Simple. Inexpensive. Quick.

Well, what could be simpler than your iPhone? Beginning Photo Management for Fine Artists will get you familiar with everything you need to know for professional submissions using your iPhone.

In the course of the class we will cover:
– iPhone settings
– Understanding storage space
– Using iCloud
– Camera App settings
– Photos Settings
– Simple setups for capturing art
– File types for submission
– Labeling and naming photos
– Cropping photos
– Color adjustments
– Reviewing submission specs
– Adjusting file size
– Uploading photos
– Emailing photos
Upon completion, attendees will have the tools to manage their photo submission with
confidence.

Notes:
This course will be using the iPhone, iCloud and Mac with Apple Photos to guide the
workflow, however the principles apply to any mobile or app solution. Attendees are
encouraged to bring an iPhone or iPad with them with up-to-date software and plenty of
storage space available. Note that reproduction quality photos are beyond the scope of this class.

Paul Einarsen studied photography at the University of Washington and worked for several years as a freelance photographer. His work led him to a career as a color separator, providing color conversion services to the catalog industry for such companies as Victoria’s Secret, Brooks Brothers, and Coach. In 1990, he was a team leader to scan and create a digital library of the Guggenheim Museum’s most important artworks. And later, as digital photography overtook the scanning industry, Paul was a senior sales rep at one of the largest digital studios in New York. Paul remained an avid photographer and desktop publisher and, as the iPhone brought more and more people into photography for the first time, he launched Bluewater Imaging to create a resource that supported the new ways photography was being used and help manage the trillions of photos being made every year. Paul is a Certified Professional Photo Manager and now works with clients as far away as Australia to help them manage their photos every day.
