Dana Goodfellow will teach “ From Pure Realism to Abstract Painting ” on Thursdays from 1:00 pm to 4 pm from August 6 through August 27. The goal of this class is to use theories of composition, layout, design and perspective to allow for stronger REALISTIC or ABSTRACT paintings. There will be painting demos and lectures of both types of painting. The fee for this class is $110.
Christy Gallagher is teaching “Watercolor and the Landscape” on Tuesdays from 10:00 am to 4:10 pm through August 25 . C lass begins at 10 am with a Zoom meeting where Christy will compare two different artists from history to provide a guide on how to approach the days lesson in a fresh new way.  Students will then be set free to work on their own. The class will reconvene again at 3:00pm to discuss the work  done during the interim. This class is most appropriate for Intermediate and Advanced watercolor artists. The fee for this class is $160.
Adult Fall classes are in development and will be posted on the website in early August.  Be prepared to see some exciting new offerings like Calligraphy, Intro to Pastels and Music Appreciation.  We’ll have a full suite of our traditional offerings as well.  Most all will be held online.

RAC Happenings
To celebrate the beginning of summer, Education Director, Suzy Aubrey invited RAC’s Instructors to Lyme, CT for a day of Plein Air Painting and camaraderie on June 6. Despite the social distancing and individual picnics, fun was had by all! In attendance were (left to right below) Christy Gallagher, Dana Goodfellow, Suzy Aubrey , Georgette Diamandis, Will McCarthy and Katie Kindilien (Lenny’s wife) and Lenny Moskowitz. Missing from the photo is Susan Fehlinger.
The start of Susan Fehlinger’s painting of the barn using her signature palette knife
In typical fashion, Georgette Diamandis found a way to infuse even more color to the scene
Christy Gallagher captured the view perfectly with her watercolors
Will McCarthy found a quiet corner spot where he worked on his Atmospheric landscapes
Lenny Moskowitz (left) found a meditative spot overlooking the estuary and did his “thing” of focusing on the big shapes and values. Meanwhile, Dana Goodfellow (right) captured a beautiful view of the barn where the light was spectacular.
Adult Workshop with
