Our Pro Skills Series concludes this Sunday, June 4 with Sarah Schmerler leading a FREE interactive workshop about “Writing an Effective Artist Statement.” (Preregistration is required, more info at link here!) Thanks to Kimberly Hendrikson for her presentation “Mindful Messaging: Selecting Works with Intention” (seen in the photo below at right) and Thomas Del Spina for sharing tips about “Framing to Sell.” (See note below about FREE frames!)

RAC Classes and Workshops

Education Update

The Spring 2 session of adult classes continues through June and the summer schedule is available online with a wide variety of weekly classes and short term workshops. Here’s a student in “Wonders and Spontaneity of Watercolor and Gouache” with RAC Instructor Judy Katz enjoying a class on the back porch.

Abstracting the Landscape

Saturday, July 8

11am-3pm

RAC Instructor Lenny Moskowitz will lead participants through a similar abstracted landscape painting in the RAC studio. Painters of all levels welcome. Fee: $115 (includes all art supplies). More info and register online here.

Community Sponsored Awards Show 2023

Community Sponsored Awards Show on view now until June 11!!! This exhibition features artwork

by RAC Exhibiting Members representing their best work of the year, with cash awards in three categories thanks to individuals and merchants in the area.

Winners were announced by judge Susan Hardesty, Curator and Art Advisor: Best in Show: Monica Sprei of Wilton for “Horse’s Head” (Sculpture). Acrylics and Oils: 1st Place: Michael Brennecke of Westport for “Nocturne” (Oil), 2nd Place: Joel Flora of Rowayton for “Her Imaginary Friends” (Oil), 3rd Place: Ginny Rowan of Riverside for “Profiles in Courage” (Acrylic), Honorable Mention: Susan Fehlinger of Bridgeport for “Spring Birches” (Oil). Rowayton Porch Jam

Saturday, June 3 (1-6pm)

Get your tickets now!!! There will be 25+ bands performing throughout Rowayton, including at RAC with Tor Newcomer covering the classics as the warm up band at 11:30 am (Wristband pick up and merch sales at the gallery from 9 am to 1 pm!) Porch Jam is JAM Studio‘s fundraising event, which encourages everyone to soak in a wide array of music: indie, funk, jazz, rock, country and everything in between.
