Here comes Fall! We received over 50 submissions from members for the new RAC Masters small group show – it’s great to have this amount of interest in the exhibition and we look forward to welcoming everyone to the opening on Friday, September 15 from 6-8 pm. (Photo by Exhibiting Member Rick Pank)

This popular annual exhibition features artwork by RAC Exhibiting Members with a marine and coastal theme – link to online gallery and more info here.

Plus, this year, 10% of any sales from the main gallery will benefit the

Norwalk Land Trust, a nonprofit organization which is tasked with the care of the Farm Creek Preserve in Rowayton.

RAC Classes and Workshops

Education Update

Register Now for the Fall session. Classes for Adults, Teens and Youth 6+.  Classes begin after Labor Day so don’t delay! (Seen here is a student in Judy Katz’s “Wonders and Spontaneity of Watercolors and Gouache” class over the summer – Judy will be teaching again on Thursday afternoons in September.)

Paint Along

Thursday, September 14

6:30-8:30pm

RAC Instructor Susan Fehlinger will help participants go LARGE by referencing this painting of a serene summer image on 20×20″ canvases.  Susan will be using a palette knife, but students are welcome to paint with a brush instead.  Fee: $50 (Includes instruction, art materials and refreshments.)

Intro to Monotype Printmaking

Thursday, September 28

6:00-8:30pm

This workshop with Christopher Shore from the Center of Contemporary Printmaking will introduce the basics of the “painterly print” to artists of all skill levels. It’s a fun creative process where the “happy accidents” often turn into the best pieces.  Fee is $65 (includes all instruction, art materials, and refreshments).

Opening Sunday, August 13

Marine and Coastal Art show on view now until September 3 only!!! This popular annual exhibition features artwork by RAC Exhibiting Members and 10% of sales from the main gallery will benefit the Norwalk Land Trust. Other News

RAC Artist Selection Drop Off Day Thursday, September 28

Interested in becoming a RAC Exhibiting Member? RAC’s selection committee will review artwork by local artists interested in becoming exhibiting members Friday, September 29. Artists should bring items for consideration to the gallery on Thursday, September 28 from 12-5pm. The artist selection will take place on the morning of Friday, September 29 with notifications sent to accepted artists the following week. Artists should plan on picking up their artwork on Friday, September 29 from 12-5 pm or Saturday, September 30 from 10am-1pm.

Congratulations to Joe Fama!

RAC Instructor Joseph Fama’s painting “Weir Farm – Afternoon” was accepted into the 2023 National Oil and Acrylic Painters Society (NOAPS) Associate Online Exhibition. Joseph will teach “Landscape Painting for New and Experienced Painters” at RAC on Friday afternoons. View the show at the link here.

Wednesday, September 27 (5-7pm)

RAC will host another free event with a panel discussion featuring top local designers moderated by RAC’s next door neighbor Jennifer Matthews, Realtor, William Pitt Sotheby’s International Realty. Learn tips and thoughts on incorporating art in home design with refreshments provided. More info soon!
