Fee: $220

Do you have photos from recent travels you want to paint from but aren’t sure how to start or finish? This course will help you gain confidence and see it from a playful viewpoint. We will explore watercolor, drawing, collage and more to find what materials work well and inspire your drawing and painting. I will be encouraging a looser, expressive approach to sketching the landscape and cityscapes.

Supplies:
You can do this class with a sketchbook of mixed media or watercolor paper, a few watercolors, some pencils, markers, a magazine and a glue stick. This class works for both the art supply junkie and the minimalist. In first class I will show and demo various supplies you may want to add.

NOTE:  This class will be taught online using Zoom.  Students are expected to be well versed in the use of Zoom prior to the start of class.  The classes area recorded and recordings are available for a month following each class.

Instructor:   Sharon Schmiedel

Sharon Schmiedel has a BFA in painting from the Maryland Institute College of Art. She works in watercolor, pen and ink, mixed media and acrylics. These works are energetic and expressive; it is the opposite direction from the many years she spent working in technical illustration, medical illustration, and graphic design. She now spends her creative energy painting, drawing, and teaching.  To see Sharon’s most recent artwork follow her on Instagram artwork_sharon or her website at www.sharon.gallery.
