Class Description:

Students immerse themselves in the art of b&w photography. We will discuss how it differs from color photography, how to maximize the potential of the format as well as best practices to capture images. Part of the class will cover how to maximize your image after capture in post processing. Open to all types of cameras.

About the Instructor: Thom Williams

Thom Williams is a photographic artist currently living in Troy, NY.  Thom earned a B.F.A. from SUNY Oswego with studio conentrations in Graphic Design and Photography.  He has taken photographs ranging from fashion editorials, portraits, architecture, athletic events and street photography. Whether a gesture, expression, or angle of artichetecture, Thom is inspired by capturing images not otherwise seen of ordinary moments that can have profound reflective meaning for the viewer. As an artist, he is interested in experimenting digitially with images and more recently in presenting images in a unique multidimensionally way.

His fashion editorials have been published in Saratoga Living, The Muse and Tatoo Envy Magazine among others. Thom’s work can be viewed on TM Williams Photography through Facebook or Instagram. Below is a list of shows participated in.

Teaching at multiple art centers for the past 3 years in person and virtually beginning in 2020 he has found an avenue to share his passion and foster growth for others interested in photography.
