“The best camera is the one you have with you.” There is debate on the originator of this quote but it is accurate nonetheless. Pretty much everyone is carrying around a smartphone camera so why not learn how to really use it? In this series we will look at composition techniques and functions of your phone camera that you may not have known, and how to maximize those images through the use of editing apps. Finally we’ll look at multiple platforms to share your photos.
Note: This class will be taught online using Zoom. Please have the Zoom app uploaded to your device and become familiar with it prior to joining class. Invites to the Zoom meetings will be sent a few days before the class begins.
About the Instructor: Thom Williams
Thom Williams is a photographic artist currently living in Troy, NY. Thom earned a B.F.A. from SUNY Oswego with studio concentrations in Graphic Design and Photography. He has taken photographs ranging from fashion editorials, portraits, architecture, athletic events and street photography. Whether a gesture, expression, or angle of architecture, Thom is inspired by capturing images not otherwise seen in ordinary moments that can have profound reflective meaning for the viewer. As an artist, he is interested in experimenting digitally with images and more recently in presenting images in a unique multidimensionally way.
His fashion editorials have been published in Saratoga Living, The Muse and Tatoo Envy Magazine among others. Thom’s work can be viewed on TM Williams Photography through Facebook or Instagram. Below is a list of shows participated in.
Teaching at multiple art centers for the past 3 years in person and virtually beginning in 2020 he has found an avenue to share his passion and foster growth for others interested in photography.
