This class will be a wonderful introduction to the making of art.  We’ll cover the basics of composition and values as well as color mixing.  Ideas from the well known contemporary artists will be discussed and incorporated into our artwork. We’ll also discuss works of art that inspire each of us.  This class is meant to rejuvenate your creativity and to give you a place to play and explore.

Students should expect a bit of drawing, painting, collage and guidance on how to really look at famous artwork and the world around us.

Note: this class will be taught online using Zoom.  Please download and become familiar with the app prior to the start of class.

Suggested Supply list:

Acrylic paints:  Cadmium red medium, ultramarine blue, Cadmium yellow medium, titanium white

Brushes: 1/4 flat brush, 1″flat brush, #12 filbert

Pencils: #2 pencil

Charcoal:  med vine charcoal

Sketchbook:  9″ x 12″ bound sketch book

Canvases: two 11″x14″” canvas boards

About Lenny:

Lenny Moskowitz is a Connecticut landscape painter who lives in New Haven with his wife.He graduated with his B.F.A from the Philadelphia College of Art and received his M.F.A. from Michigan’s Cranbrook Academy. Lenny has participated in both group and solo shows at numerous Galleries throughout the U.S. and has taught classes and workshops in Connecticut, Block Island, and Nantucket.  He has been awarded several artist residencies, including at the Anderson Center in Minnesota and at the NISDA Foundation on Nantucket, MA. In the summer of 2011 he was awarded a residency at Weir Farm in Wilton, CT. He makes yearly painting trips to Maine, Nantucket, and frequently sojourns to the surrounding Connecticut woods to paint.
