Encaustic and the Natural World: landscapes and still life in wax
In this class we will work with Encaustic a colored beeswax-based paint worked while in a molten state. The paint cools almost instantly, allowing texture to be built up very quickly. The wax can also be re-melted while working to create smoother and even glass-like surfaces in the same piece.
Using a variety of tools and control of heating, we can create beautiful atmospheric skies, highly textured land features, and dimensional florals.
We will also work with creating a color palette utilizing a combination of opaque and transparent pigments and look at high and low chroma choices to create mood.
Working from photographs means there will always be a source of inspiration ready for your next exploration.
RAC will provide the art materials for this workshop.
