There is a special opportunity for RAC Exhibiting Members to be part

of a small group show called RAC Masters, scheduled in the gallery from September 15 to October 7. This exhibition is intended to appeal to artists who have a body of work and are interested in presenting it at an advanced level.

Exhibiting Member-Only Small Group Juried Show – All Media

RAC Masters is a member-only, juried group show intended to appeal to artists who have a body of work and are interested in presenting it at an advanced level. An outside juror will select approximately 10 to 12 artists for an exhibition in the gallery. More info here!

RAC Classes and Workshops

Education Update

The Summer session of adult classes continues through August and the Fall session is open for registration. There is a wide variety of weekly classes and short term workshops. (Artwork here by Mari Gyorgyey, who will be teaching “Mixed Media and Collage” this fall – a weekly class as well as a weekend workshop in the studio.)

Youth class registration for fall will be posted on the website by the end of the week. Also, there are still spots available in our 3-Day Printmaking workshops for 8-12 yr olds August 15-17 and August 22-24 (2-4pm). View the entire schedule of classes at

RAC Instructor/Gallery Assistant Michelle Bjerke will continue the crafty fun in two sessions with demonstrations at the beginning followed by individual assistance. Appropriate for new and experienced crochet artists! Fee: $40 (includes all art supplies and refreshments).

RAC Instructor Lenny Moskowitz will lead participants through this abstracted landscape painting. Artists of all levels welcome. Fee: $50 (includes all art supplies and refreshments).

Intro to Monotype Printmaking

Thursday, September 28

6:00-8:30pm

Christopher Shore from the Center of Contemporary Printmaking will introduce the basics of the “painterly print” to artists of all skill levels with the use of non-toxic or low toxicity materials. Fee: $65 (includes all art supplies and refreshments).

Photography and Sculpture Show 2023

Sunday, July 16

Photography and Sculpture show on view now until August 6!!! This exhibition features artwork by area artists chosen by juror Hans Neleman from 226 online submissions. Here is Hilary Houston Bachelder receiving her ribbon from Executive Director Andrea Letters with the judge looking on.

Winners were announced at the opening. Photography Awards: 1st Place: Hilary Houston Bachelder of New York City for “Rising Under Water,” 2nd Place: Laurie Peek of Tappan, New York, “For Stephen,” 3rd Place: Holli Levy of Danbury for “Cityscape,” Honorable Mention: Jay Wilson of Cos Cob for “Nothing Fades Like the Light” and Anne Louise Tetenbaum of Westport for “Umbrella Girl.” Sculpture awards: 1st Place: Almudena Fernandez Vicens of Greenwich for “Hold Me Tight,” 2nd Place: Pamela Park Proctor of Rowayton for “Vessel #5 with Lichens,” 3rd Place: Holli Levy of Danbury for, “Decay” Honorable Mention: Suran Song of West Redding for “Chocolate from Duchamp! Sky from Magritte! I Undo Dreams of Destruction! Lu-Oh!”

Other News

In Memoriam

We at RAC are deeply saddened by the passing of our friend, photographer Bob Sachs. In lieu of flowers, the Sachs Family has graciously suggested donations to RAC, where Bob was an Exhibiting Member held in high regard as well as a former member of the board of directors. We are honored to be the recipient of donations in his memory – link to donate online here.

This photo is Bob with his 2nd Place archival pigment print “Magenta Spirit” in this year’s Abstraction show.

In Memoriam

We have also learned that Susanne Wooldridge passed away in June after a brief illness. Her paintings were exhibited many times at RAC as well as the Wilton Library. She will be missed by family and friends for her wry sense of humor and beautiful smile.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to First Church Congregational in Fairfield, CT or the Pequot Library in Southport, CT.
