ALLA PRIMA is a method of painting in which pigments are laid on in a single application instead of being built up by repeated paintings.

This workshop is geared towards artists who seek to demystify the challenges associated with the “Alla Prima” method of painting the portrait. In this workshop you’ll learn everything from finding proportions, to understanding notan (i.e.finding the shadows and lights with one, average value), to how to create exciting color mixtures for skin tones. You’ll also learn how to work with water based oil paints in case you’ve never used them before. Felicia will be painting a step by step, follow along demonstration. This way, each artist can see the secrets behind painting wet into wet without the colors getting muddy.

All supplies included:  RAC will be providing water based oil paints, brushes, palettes, water containers and canvases for this workshop.
