Discover the fascinating world of encaustic painting while creating vibrant insect-inspired artwork in this hands-on workshop led by artist and educator Carolyn Childs.

The class begins with a demonstration of essential encaustic techniques and tools. Carolyn will then guide participants step-by-step as they create colorful beetles, ladybugs, bees, and other nature-inspired designs. Students will explore color, pattern, texture, and composition while learning how to bring these beloved insects to life through the luminous qualities of encaustic wax.

Throughout the workshop, participants will learn a variety of encaustic techniques using a hot iron and other heated tools. Students will create multiple small insect-themed artworks while experimenting with color and texture. One finished piece may be displayed in a Lucite frame, which is included in the class fee.

This workshop is designed for both beginners and experienced artists. Whether you are inspired by the beauty of nature, looking to learn a new medium, or simply seeking a creative and restorative escape, this workshop offers a fun and rewarding artistic experience.

All materials are included.
