Looking for a lovely way to kick off your weekend?  We’ve got the perfect idea for you…

Join us for a late afternoon of painting to live music in beautiful Pinkney Park located along the Five Mile River in downtown Rowayton.  No experience is necessary and we’ll provide all the painting supplies you need!

In this workshop, professional instructor, Karen Siegel,  will take you step-by step through a landscape painting using watercolors.  You’ll explore various watercolor techniques and will learn about color mixing and shading.  Composition will also be discussed.   The experience will be enhanced with live music provided by professional bassist, Mary Ann McSweeney.  Prepared to be wowed by the effect the live music has upon your artwork.

All levels of experience are welcome.  This is a wonderful workshop to attend by yourself or with family members and friends.

Participants should bring a beach chair and any refreshments that appeal to them.

Supply list:  all painting supplies will be provided by RAC

About the Instructor:

Karen Siegel is a visual artist and educator. She teaches at Silvermine Arts Center, Brookfield Craft Center, Wainwright House, Rowayton Arts Center, the Weston Library and throughout Connecticut.

Karen has exhibited her work at the Carriage Arts Barn, Silvermine Art Gallery and the Wooster Gallery. She teaches watercolor,acrylic,oil sticks, and all media. She also facilitates art workshops. Karen has lived in France,Spain and Germany and presently lives in Westport ,Ct  with her family and her two cockapoos Zoe and Rosie.

About the Music:

Mary Ann McSweeney is a full-time professional bassist in New York City.  She was on the faculty for the Middle School Jazz Academy at Lincoln Center for 12 years, and performed at the White House with the Eli Yamin Quintet and the Kennedy Center Gala with the Clayton/Hamilton Orchestra.  Mary Ann was musical director/arranger for three shows at NYC’s Birdland featuring Jane Monheit, in a program that included selections from Irving Berlin and the Cole Porter musical, “Anything Goes.” McSweeney has played more than 45 Broadway shows, including Tony award-winning “A Gentleman’s Guide to Love and Murder.” In 2017 she performed in Greece and Berlin with her Urban Fado Project. Her original music can be heard on the documentary “From Allegiance to Broadway,” currently playing in theaters around the country. She recently was seen at the Public Theater playing the onstage bass player for the “Girl From the North Country” that opened to rave reviews. In 2019 She performed the music of Charles Mingus, arranging and orchestrating for the new ensemble sponsored by the Bronx Arts Ensemble.
