Frank Bruckmann
Fee: $140
Come and join me in an intensive one-day workshop of outdoor painting at Pinkney Park in Rowayton.
We will focus on drawing, explore some visual perspective and zero in on values to help construct a beautiful landscape painting. You will learn how to use cool and warm colors and how to create a sense of space. I will instruct you on how to utilize paint quality to add texture for a more interesting look to your piece.
Oils, acrylics, watercolors and pastels are welcome.
I will start with a quick 20 – 30 minute demo and then we will work from 9-12 noon, have a lunch break and then paint from 1-4pm.
Class will meet at Pinkney Park 177 Rowayton Avenue, Rowayton, CT 06853
I’ve just returned from a year sabbatical in Provence and have learned that there are few things that can compete with a day spent painting in the open air. I would be happy to share what I have learned.
Supply List
Bring your oil paints, acrylics or pastels along with brushes you like to paint with. You’ll need a jar for water or turpenoid, a couple of 12×16 canvases and a roll of paper towels. A sketch book, charcoal and or graphite would be helpful as well. If you have a plein air easel, bring it. Otherwise call Suzy at RAC 203-866-2744 (x-2) and let her know you’ll need an easel and we’ll have one for you. Extras include water for drinking, a hat and possibly some bug spray. There is a market close by in case you need to purchase lunch, coffee and/or a snack.
About Frank: Frank Bruckmann began his studies at the DuCret School of Art in New Jersey and continued with classes at the Art Students League in New York City. In Paris, he studied at the Ecole des Beaux Arts and spent nearly a decade in France and Spain, copying the masters in great museums and painting landscapes in the cities and countryside. Now a resident of New Haven, Bruckmann has found endless subject matter for landscapes in New England but periodically packs his easel and travels farther and wider in his VW camper.
