A new show at the Rowayton Arts Center (RAC), “Spring Juried Show,” will be on view April 15 through May 10, 2025. This open theme, all media exhibition features artwork by area artists chosen from almost 400 online submissions.
The opening reception is free and open to the public on Wednesday, April 16 from 5 pm to 7 pm. Gallery hours are Tuesday through Friday from 12 to 5 pm and Saturday from 10 am to 1 pm.

Rosa Sclafani was born in Lima, Peru. She is a Connecticut-based painter who specializes in Watercolor and realistic works.
Victoria is an interior designer and photographer who lives in Southport, CT and NYC.

ROWAYTON ARTS CENTER HOLIDAY GIFT SHOW – November 29 through December 24
The RAC gallery will be filled with original, handcrafted works by approximately 50 local artists/artisans for the annual Holiday Gift Show: small ornaments and holiday-related items as well as jewelry, ceramics and knitted items plus cards, prints and paintings. There’s also a special selection of items by the Rowayton Gardeners. Proceeds from the Holiday Gift Show are used to support RAC and its educational outreach.
Opening day at RAC is Friday, November 29 from 12 to 5 pm. Hours for Saturday, November 27 are 10 am to 5 pm and Sunday, November 28 is 12 pm to 7 pm (during Light up Rowayton). After that the show will be open Tuesday through Friday from 12 pm to 5 pm, Saturday from 10 am to 5 pm and Sunday from 12 pm to 5 pm (closed on Monday) until Christmas Eve from 10 am to 2 pm. Jori is a self-taught photographer with a passion for organically capturing the world around her.
Holli Levy’s artistic journey began with mixed media, where she honed her creative skills through journaling.
Lynn began her professional career studying horticulture, art and landscape design and has been fascinated with the plant world for as long as she can remember.
New Jersey born artist Natalia Petkov begins her studio practice with long walks in various landscapes, collecting materials, such as dead birds or dug up trash from the ocean, along with photographing and videotaping the environment.
Through the use of layering, framing, and bold, saturated colors, every Nina Nelson photograph beckons viewers into a vibrantly alive world of whimsy, imagination, and intrigue.

George Radwan is a mixed media artist working in mediums including cement, plaster, sand, rusty metal, weathered wood, and found objects.
Betty is a watercolor artist who especially loves the freedom and joy of painting in plein air.
Pamela received a BFA from Syracuse University majoring in Painting with a minor in Metalsmithing. Her love of drawing and fabrication lead to an extensive career as a product designer
Mary Moross uses memories and experiences from nature to create imaginary landscapes.
Merrilee Main utilizes the beauty, contrast, accidents and contrivances of abstract expressionistic, painterly language.
Lori Lohstoeter’s work is abstract and expressive. Her preferred medium is cold wax.
Lilly Langotsky is a plein air painter. She has always been drawn to the mystique of nature.

Kathleen Carlson finds her voice in the realm of abstract acrylic, oil and mixed media paintings. Drawing inspiration from the everyday moments in life, her art is an expression of color, form and emotion.
Marilyn Parker has spent several months in Kenya every year since 2005. She has been on safari many times and has photographed wildlife in all the major parks.
Leslie Ware spends summers in Norwalk and winters in Patagonia, Arizona. Those different environments—one all leafy trees, marshes, and seawater; the other arid and adorned in every shade of tan—inform her landscapes.
Bill’s photographic arts are grounded in the American landscape and search for ways to rethink visual expression as more than representation.

A new show at the Rowayton Arts Center (RAC), “Community Sponsored Awards,” will be on view May 19 through June 16, 2024. This year, artwork in the exhibition will feature local scenes by RAC Exhibiting Members with cash awards thanks to individuals and merchants in the area.

An avid landscape and cityscape photographer from Wall Street, Ariel Ling started exploring photography in 2018 with a passion for chasing light from cities to countryside.
The annual Holiday Gift Show at the Rowayton Arts Center (RAC) transforms the gallery into a shopping wonderland with original, handcrafted works from November 24 to December 24. Shop one-of-a-kind gifts by local artists: original cards, prints, paintings, ornaments, jewelry, ceramics, and knitted items galore by over 60 artists/artisans. Proceeds from the Holiday Gift Show are used to support RAC and its educational outreach.

Jeanne McDonagh is a mixed media artist and teacher who recently retired after a 42-years teaching art on the high school and college level.

The RAC gallery will be filled with original, handcrafted works by local artists for the annual Holiday Gift Show: small ornaments and holiday-related items as well as jewelry, ceramics and knitted items plus cards, prints and paintings. There’s also a special selection of items by the Rowayton Gardeners. Proceeds from the Holiday Gift Show are used to support RAC and its educational outreach.
Opening day at RAC is Friday, November 25 from 12 to 5 pm. Hours for Saturday, November 26 are 10 am to 5 pm and Sunday, November 27 is 12 pm to 7 pm during Light up Rowayton. Growing up in Louisville, Kentucky, Paul can recount early experiences with his parents’ Kodak instamatic cameras with easy load cartridges and flash cubes.

Marcia is a graduate of Pratt institute with a BFA in illustration that actually led to a career as a design director for textiles in both home and hotel.

Ben’s formal training as an artist began in 1962 at the Rhode Island School of Design (RISD) where he discovered his passion through his mentor, world-renowned photographer Harry Callahan, and earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Photography.

Rowayton Gift Stroll – Shop Local from Pinkney Park to the Rowayton Arts Center
The town of Rowayton will be transformed to a delightful walkable shopping experience on Wednesday, December 8 from 4 to 8 pm. Parking is available in the community lot behind SAILS restaurant in the middle of town.
In the Pinkney Park, the gem of a shop Seaside Delights features beach themed apparel, art and unique gifts plus all your favorite roadie cups. Stop by Classic Prep for coordinated holiday looks for your littles and shop Chou Chou for your perfect holiday gift, even something for guys. Core Pilates is also handing out gifts if you sign up for a free 30-minute session. Rowayton Wine Shop will offer tastings of wine specials and other holiday favorites, while SAILS American Grill will feature a special discounted cocktail, Rosie’s Apple Pie Hot Cider for $12. Plus Brendan’s is ready with holiday sweets to indulge in and bring home extras!
The RAC gallery will be filled with original, handcrafted works by local artists for the annual Holiday Gift Show: small ornaments and holiday-related items as well as jewelry, ceramics and knitted items plus cards, prints and paintings. There’s also a special selection of items by the Rowayton Gardeners. Proceeds from the Holiday Gift Show are used to support RAC and its educational outreach.
Opening day at RAC is Friday, November 26 from 12 to 5 pm. Hours for Saturday, November 27 are 10 am to 5 pm and Sunday is 12 pm to 7 pm during Light up Rowayton. Regular hours for the show are Tuesday through Friday from 12 pm to 5 pm, Saturday from 10 am to 5 pm and Sunday from 12 pm to 5 pm (closed on Monday) until Christmas Eve from 10 am to 2 pm. My new work is in abstraction mixed media. I like to make paper, and often incorporate birds into my work.

A new show at the Rowayton Arts Center (RAC), “Spring Juried Show,” will be on view March 14 until April 10, 2021. This open theme, all media exhibition features 84 pieces of artwork by area artists chosen from almost 350 submissions.

Katy is a mixed media artist who works with acrylics – adding paper, cardboard and textiles to create layers and texture.
Carolyn is an artist, educator, and mom of two wonderful boys. Inspired by children’s illustrations, she paints folk art scenes in gouache of the local community.

A new show by exhibiting members at the Rowayton Arts Center (RAC), “In the Garden,” will be on view February 7 through March 6, 2021. The opening reception is free and open to the public with limited admission on Sunday, February 7 from 4 pm to 6 pm.
On Friday, February 12 there will be a silent auction fundraiser for the Rowayton Gardeners with floral displays just in time for Valentine’s Day weekend. Preview hours from 12 to 5 pm will be followed by a reception from 5 to 7 pm. The silent auction will end at 6:30 pm, however there will also be “Buy It Now” options.

Rowayton Gift Stroll – Shop Local from Pinkney Park to the Rowayton Arts Center
This year the town of Rowayton will be transformed to a delightful walkable shopping experience from Pinkney Park to the Rowayton Arts Center (RAC) at 145 Rowayton Avenue. Beginning the day after Thanksgiving on Friday, November 27 to Christmas Eve on Thursday, December 24, there will be plenty of ideas for everyone on your list – including something to gift yourself! Wednesday, December 9 is Wishlist Wednesday Shopping Night from 5 to 8 pm with other shops in town open for everyone to create a list or send someone to buy their favorite items. Parking is available in the community lot behind SAILS restaurant in the middle of town. COVID regulations apply.
In the park, the gem of a shop Seaside Delights will be open daily from 11 am to 4 pm. Featuring beach themed apparel, art and unique gifts plus all your favorite roadie cups. Follow @seasidedelights on Instagram to browse the latest inventory.
On weekends, visitors to the Rowayton Historical Society’s Boathouse will find quality goods from one-of-a-kind vendors rotating in the space: Jessica Howard Ceramics, Blue Door Vibes, Tori Brown and more. The RAC gallery will be filled with original, handcrafted works by local artists for the annual Holiday Gift Show: small ornaments and holiday-related items as well as jewelry, ceramics and knitted items plus cards, prints and paintings. There’s also a special selection of items by the Rowayton Gardeners. Proceeds from the Holiday Gift Show are used to support RAC and its educational outreach.
Opening day at RAC is Friday, November 27 from 12 to 5 pm. Hours for Saturday, November 28 are 10 am to 5 pm with a special Pop Up Sale with artwork by exhibiting members from 11 to 4 pm in the parking lot next door. Regular hours for the show are Tuesday through Friday from 12 pm to 5 pm, Saturday from 10 am to 5 pm and Sunday from 12 pm to 5 pm (closed on Monday). The judge, Kristin Peterson Edwards, is a twenty-five year veteran of the art world and an avid life-long traveler. She is a private art consultant whose concentration is in primary market contemporary painting, sculpture and photography. Kristin received a BA in Art History and French Studies at Northwestern University and received a graduate diploma in Contemporary Art at Christie’s Education in London. She is currently on the Board of the Block Museum of Art at Northwestern University in Chicago, in addition to sitting on several local nonprofit boards where she lives in Connecticut.

The judge, Brechin Morgan, is a native of Connecticut. His wanderlust began early when at sixteen he left high school to work and hang out in the bohemian atmosphere of Greenwich Village of the early sixties. He hitched across the country and through Mexico riding over 1,000 miles in railroad boxcars through the southwest. Returning he worked summers at the Windward Sailing School in Rowayton while attending Silvermine College of Art. A family and reality came next and for over twenty years he ran Morgan Sign Company in Sono and painted many of the large outdoor murals in Norwalk. Brec is a Signature Member of the American Society of Marine Artists. He has had many solo and group shows and is represented by numerous galleries in New England.
